MFA Projects at Towson University

I recently returned from an eight day assignment photographing the MFA (Master of Fine Arts), student thesis at Towson University in Maryland. In all I covered the work of four MFA students over the period.

From basic rehearsal, to tech rehearsal and finally show it was wonderful to see the evolution of these short plays come together. Actors were able to provide input into their respect parts and each production benefitted from this collaboration.

All four productions were performed in black box theaters so the main challenge was capturing the action on very dimly lit sets.

Add hard, contrasty light and some pretty fast paced action and you have the makings of a pretty tough assignment.

One of the requirements of this project for me was to be on stage and moving about and around the actors as they performed. This provided me with images very different from those captured for most production photos.

I like to collaborate closely with our clients to provide them with imagery that not only meets their needs but adds new dimensions to their projects.
